Save the Dates: We've Hit a Wall

Our Save the Dates are finally coming together, woohoo!  After sitting in a box in our condo for 4 months, it is SO nice to feel like we're making progress:

Well..we were making progress until we hit a major wall: I didn't order enough baker's twine...so now we're in a holding pattern until more comes in.  Mwah, mwah.  I really want to get these out soon, so they don't get mixed into the Christmas Card hoopla.   Thankfully a good friend has offered to help me finish them up next week!  Here's hoping that by next weekend we are done, done, done!  This would be a big thing to check off our list, so we can move onto more important things like cake tastings and caterer selection.

Good times :)

It's Go Time..Save the Date Edition

I think I've mentioned this before, but we're SUPER stoked about our Save the Dates because they involve these:

I can't wait to share the finished product...if we ever get them out!

We're getting closer though.... Today I ordered some awesome baker's twine to "package" the save the dates all together.  I'm SO excited my awesome friend (and bridesmaid) clued me into baker's twine.  I needed something to hold all the components of the save the dates together and literally had like 8 other options at home but I wasn't really happy with any of them.  This is perfect and just what we needed!  We ordered ours here.

We also just got in the stamp I ordered from Emilie Friday, which we'll use for our return address on all the envelopes.  I LOVE their stamps and had a really hard time choosing, but here is the style we settled on:

I'm going to begin the assembly process this week (kill me now) - thank god B has offered to help!  Hopefully within the next two weeks we'll have these bad boys out the door!  SO excited!

Engagement Party Invites before Save the Dates

My parents have been friends with several couples for years and it's tradition that all of our families get together and celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve as a group.  All of the kids are around the same age and we've gotten closer as we've gotten older and can all relate to each other.  I think all of us look forward to Christmas Eve because its one of the few times we're all together.  And we're all booze hounds, which always makes for an entertaining & fun night!

Three of the "Christmas Eve Kids" are getting married in the next year, and our parents decided to throw us a one big engagement party.  I love this idea - the more the merrier!   But because one of the couples is getting married in October, the party's going to be really soon and I'm positive the invitations for this party are going to go out before our save the dates.  All of the people invited know B & I are engaged (at least I hope?) so I don't think its a big deal.  But I still wonder if its "weird".

I checked with Ms. Emily Post herself and found: "Engagement parties are most often held soon after the couple becomes engaged.  It's a chance for the families to announce the happy news and for relatives and friends to meet and congratulate the couple."  So I think we're straight.  And thank god - there's no way we could get our act together and get save the dates out in the next two weeks!

Woohoo!  Looking forward to getting our party on with the Christmas Eve crew!
